If you feel that your problem required dealing with today, you will be offered a 5 minute “extra” slot.
We are very happy for you to use this service as we wish to be as accessible as possible to provide high quality health care for all out patients. We will see patients the same day if you feel the matter is urgent.
However, these urgent appointments are sometimes misused.
Please use these slots only for matters which will genuinely not wait for the next available routine appointment with a doctor.
Please remember this appointment is for one urgent problem only. We may need you to return for fuller assessment at a later date.
THE FOLLOWING ARE JUST A FEW EXAMPLES OF MATTERS SUITABLE TO DEAL WITH IN THESE SLOTS:
Infections such as coughs/possible “flu”. Flare ups of asthma. Childhood illnesses Reaction to new medication and any new problem in children/the elderly/pregnant patients or patients with ongoing illness or acute pain.
SOME EXAMPLES OF MATTERS NOT SUITABLE FOR DEALING WITH IN THESE SLOTS ARE:
- Routine medical certificates (sick notes)
- Obtaining routine results (any urgent results are automatically communicated to you)
- Verrucas/wart
- Acne
- Routine confirmation of pregnancy
URGENT EXTRAS ARE ALLOCATED BETWEEN THE DUTY DOCTORS, YOU WILL
NOT BE ABLE TO REQUEST WHICH DOCTOR YOU SEE
